ICEE FAQ

Dietary Questions

Is there a sugar-free/diet ICEE?
At this time, sugar-free is not available. Sugar actually plays two important roles in the production of ICEE. First, it helps make ICEE taste great. Second, it acts as a freezing agent. Without the exact amount of sugar, ICEE would freeze up, and it would not properly dispense from the machine into your cup. Research is being conducted to make a sugar-free ICEE, but no sugar substitutes with the same freezing properties as real sugar have been found yet.
Is there caffeine in ICEE?
Most ICEE flavors are caffeine-free, but some do contain caffeine. Please check the ICEE Flavors page for nutritional facts.
Is ICEE kosher?
Yes, ICEE products are Kosher-certified.
How many calories are in ICEE?
The number of calories in ICEE varies by flavor. Please check the ICEE Flavors page for nutritional facts. ICEE is a much lower calorie option and “less bad for you option” than many of your other favorite treats!
Is ICEE gluten free?
Yes, all ICEE products are free from wheat and other sources of gluten.
Are there peanut oils in ICEE?
No, ICEE is completely free from peanuts and peanut oils.
Is ICEE vegan?
Yes, ICEE products are vegan.

Questions About ICEE

How is an ICEE made?
The ICEE machine is really a complex frozen drink “manufacturing plant.” Specially formulated ICEE flavor concentrate is mixed automatically in the exact amounts with water and CO2 gas. It is then frozen under pressure, creating the original, world-famous carbonated beverage in a soft, “fluffy” texture.
How many ICEE flavors are there?
Since our inception, ICEE has created more than 150 unique flavors! ICEE is proud to offer over 30 flavors at any given time. Visit our ICEE Flavors page to learn more about our current ICEE flavors.
Is ICEE available outside of the USA?
Yes, you can also find ICEE in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Central America, China, the Middle East, Australia and South Africa.
Why is there sometimes a red light on the ICEE machine telling me I can’t have a certain flavor when I go to get an ICEE at my favorite store?
The most common reason is because a particular ICEE flavor is going through what we call a “defrost cycle.” This is a necessary part of the process where the frozen ICEE is melted and then refrozen, so it will maintain its smooth, soft, frozen texture. The defrost cycle only takes about 15 to 20 minutes, and it can happen once or twice a day. However, when one flavor is defrosting, the other flavor(s) can be served. A second reason the red light may come on is to alert the Store Manager that the ICEE machine is out of syrup and replenishment is required.
Why does my store only carry ICEE Cherry and ICEE Blue Raspberry?
ICEE produces over 30 flavors at any given time. We wish we could offer them all at every store, but the available flavors are determined by the retailer. Please let your store manager know which flavors you’d like to see them carry, and hopefully they will order your favorite flavor. Sometimes, all it takes is a request from an ICEE fan like you!
How can I purchase ICEE memorabilia?
The best way to get cool ICEE stuff is to collect ICEE Points. They are located on the side of our cups, and they can be collected for ICEE swag. Visit the ICEE Swag page to check out the available items, how many points they’re worth and an order form with instructions on how to redeem them.
Does ICEE rent machines and/or the ICEE Bear for events?
We are flattered you would like to include ICEE at your event! Unfortunately, ICEE does not rent or sell ICEE equipment for home use due to electrical and CO2 requirements. The ICEE Bear is also unavailable due to legal restrictions, but look for him at your favorite retailer.
